Presented by Dr Fanie von Solms, this distance learning course aims to assist adult learning practitioners to develop their research competence required to study, analyse, test and refine good practice across a variety of vocational and occupational contexts.
You will learn a scientific approach to research and development including how to plan a research assignment, define target populous and sampling, compare data collection and data analysis techniques and compile a research proposal
The main aim of this fundamental module is to provide learners with the relevant information on aspects of introductory research that would assist them in completing the required research assignment during the learning programme. At the end of this module learners should be able to:
- Plan a research assignment;
- Review relevant literature;
- Construct a basic research design;
- Gather and organise data;
- Compile research findings; and
- Produce a final, written research report.
This course consists of self-directed online learning (video lectures followed by completion of various tasks and activities), coupled with facilitator/tutor support over Telegram group chat, Telegram individual chat and six scheduled Zoom group support sessions over a three week period.
